Medium Pub

Back in the fall of 2016 Medium, the online publishing platform, hired HighLife to create an authentic pub right in the center for their Soho based HQ. Hand crafted Moscow Mules in copper mugs, Old Forester Rye Old Fashioneds, 100% local craft beers were served from the cherry wood and brass bar. The pub-style cuisine featured free-range fried chicken kimchi sliders, smoked kielbasa pretzel bites with whole grain mustard, and winter squash croquettes. This event definitely put the “pub” back in publishing.

Pancakes & Whiskey: Secret Summer 2015 Was a Hit

SS3

Sunday afternoon brought us a taste of what we love about summer. Between the beauty of the outdoors, refreshing cocktails, fresh food, a little theater, and some good company, the only place to be absorbing all of this goodness was at the Foundry in Long Island City. Secret Summer is a brand new festival, designed to highlight the wonder of theatrical art as accompanied by class and style. The dress code was “Summer Chic,” so the outfits were light, fun, free and flowing, which fit right into the Midsummer Night’s Dream theme of the party. HighLife Productions, Rapt Affairs and The Foundry teamed up to create an absolutely unforgettable experience in the mystically decorated venue. Décor by Patina did a great job of adding culture and richness to the already alluring space.

Opening Ceremony Threw a Teva-Themed Fiesta

_mg_0048What do you get when you combine Cinco de Mayo, OC friends and family, and the launch of our latest collection of Opening Ceremony x Teva sandals? A good time, obviously, and that’s just what happened last night at our 35 Howard Street store. Fresh off her OC-exclusive mixtape, Jubilee—along with friends Egg Foo Young and Dre Skull—provided the perfect soundtrack to the evening. The DJ was of course decked out in her own pair of Opening Ceremony x Teva Flatform Universal Sandals, stating, “I love them because they make me tall, I’m only 4’11”!”

The summery tunes were the perfect compliment to the margaritas, Tiger Beer, and La Newyorkina’s boozy popsicles being passed around the room. To soak up the tequila, Mission Cantina was also standing by with some spicy Mexican bites.

Navigating through the crowded room, we caught a glimpse of OC co-founder Humberto Leon and asked him his thoughts about the evening and his second round collaborating with Teva. “I’ve been the biggest supporter of Teva’s forever, so I’m super excited to have this second collection with them. After selling out online during the pre-order, we’re pumped for the full launch. As for the party, partnering with Mission Cantina on Cinco de Mayo is the perfect way to kick Summer off right.” We can’t help but agree.

Opening Ceremony

OUT ON A SCHOOL NIGHT, FOR BOOZE AND BRACELETS

Weather-wise, yesterday evening was kind of a lousy. But an excuse to celebrate MICA with good people and good food? We’re down.

After months of anticipation and early buzz, the long-awaited Opening Ceremony and Intel MICA bracelet is finally up for grabs. Last night, OC threw an intimate in-store event to get people up close and personal to the bracelets. When they weren’t busy testing out all of the features (email functions, Yelp reviews, and “smart” calendar alerts), guests were treated to the sweet sounds of Chairlift as Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly took over the tables.

Our favorite glam gals behind Naomi Nails polished off a few stylish manicures, perfect for showing off against the stem of a perfectly mixed, nutmeg cocktail. Another bang-up addition to the party was the serious nomming action, with pork belly buns from Momofuku and gold-leaf chocolate cookies from Milk Bar. “I came here for the cookies,” said one guest happily, and we know she was only half-kidding!

Even with all of the party offerings, the true highlight of the event was still the MICA bracelet making its grand debut, right in the thick of Holiday Season.
