HIGHLIFE INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR

What is the difference between a w-9 and a w-2? A W-9 means your are self-employed a w-9 means someone employs you. When you are contracted for work with HIGHLIFE you are a w-9 Independent Contractor.

Because of the nature of events and parties and the fact that we cannot gaurantee steady work for anyone NO ONE is an EMPLOYEE of the company. Just like your acting or modeling agencies you are NOT employees of the agency. Everyone that works with HIGHLIFE is an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR if you are unclear on what that means, it means that: You technically are self-employed which means that you cannot claim unemployment on yourself for lack of work. Please do not put Highlife as a company you have worked for on any unemployment filings because as an independent contractor you work for yourself.

As Stated in you independent contractor agreements:
“We will not deduct or withhold any taxes, FICA or other deductions that we are legally required to made from the pay of employees. As an independent contractor, you will not be entitled to any fringe benefits, such as unemployment insurance, medical insurance, pension plans or other such benefits that would be offered to employees. If the company shall incur any expenses due to impersonation of an employee then that contractor will be required to make compensation. During any event, you may be in contact with or directly working with proprietary information that is important to our company and its competitive position. All information must be treated with strict confidence and may not be used at any time or in any manner in work you may do with others in our industry”
